Turkey’s green alpine range
The Kaçkar Mountains rise just inland from the Black Sea. Their summer pastures (yaylas), wooden villages, and glacial lakes feel a world away from the dry plateau around Ararat.
The trek
Our 11-day programme acclimatizes around Yaylalar, crosses high passes, and climbs Kaçkar Dağı (3,937 m), with views of snowfields and the surrounding peaks. Nights are spent in tents, and the best season is July to September.
