Mount Elbrus (5,642 m)
Elbrus is the highest mountain in Europe and one of the Seven Summits. The classic southern route is a glaciated snow climb with crampons and an ice axe; the northern and eastern approaches are wilder and more demanding. It is a natural next step after a trekking peak like Ararat.
Mount Kazbek (5,054 m)
Kazbek rises above Georgia’s Kazbegi region and has a more alpine character, with glacier travel and steeper sections near the top. In winter and spring, the Greater Caucasus around Gudauri also offers excellent ski touring.
Which one suits you?
If you want a high summit and have basic crampon skills, Elbrus South is a strong choice. If you enjoy glacier terrain and a more remote feel, consider Kazbek. Ambitious climbers combine both in one trip.
